This historic 920+ acre ranch has never been on the market since first being settled in the late 1800's by the 2 Germans, known then as The Dutch Boys. Situated at the foot of the beautiful La Plata Mountains the property offers the ultimate in privacy and tranquility in an idyllic mountain setting yet is only a 25 minute drive from the amenities of downtown Durango. The ranch is bounded on the North by National Forest and on the South by BLM land. This affords one the sense that the ranch is actually much bigger than it actually is. Accessibility to the National Forest is very difficult to any one outside of the owners of the ranch and their guests. The owners own all the guided hunting permits in this National Forest area hence the hunting experience is excellent. The owners also have cattle grazing permits on both the National Forest and the BLM. The Dutch Boys built a hand hewn log cabin which served as their home and stage stop on the old stage road that connected Durango with the mining community of La Plata City deep in the La Plata Mountains. The cabin still stands and is serviceable today.
